Prodigy is an addictive Math game wrapped in role-playing adventure, a built-in mathematics curriculum that is geared toward elementary and middle school students.
I literally cannot get my son to put this iPad game down, even though he is now practicing 4th-grade math as a 1st grader. (I feel conflicted in that he might have too much screen time, but at least it’s very productive).
Prodigy immerses students in a fantasy world that they can freely explore as they battle enemies, collect items, upgrade their characters, and interact with other classmates and players, all while answering mathematics assessment questions that are tracked and monitored by the teacher. (For those who used to play video games, think of Final Fantasy meets math challenges).

Quick Math – Multiplication Table & Arithmetic Game is a high-speed, flash card-style game that puts math skills to the test. This app turns doing times tables and practicing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division into a challenging sport by timing and tracking a player’s progress. The game is all about accuracy and speed and is the perfect tool to drill arithmetic skills and build math confidence.
We have found this to be highly successful with students as young as 2nd grade and as old as 40-year olds! Because you draw the numbers out instead of tapping a button, it feels a lot more natural, like writing with a pencil on paper. That subtle design experience elevates the enjoyment of playing the game and focusing on math. Try taking turns with your child and “racing” her to get 15 questions right as quickly as you can!

Lightbot là một trò chơi lập trình, yêu cầu người chơi phải tư duy logic để giải quyết vấn đề. Ứng dụng này được thiết kế rất thân thiện với người dùng và phù hợp cho học sinh từ lớp 1 đến lớp 12. Lightbot giúp học sinh nắm được phương pháp lập trình cơ bản, viết và mã hoá các chương trình. Ở mỗi màn sẽ xuất hiện hướng dẫn, nhưng nhìn chung, nhiệm vụ của người chơi cơ bản là hướng dẫn robot thắp sáng tất cả các ô gạch bằng cách lập trình mệnh lệnh. Lightbot giúp trẻ hiểu được bản chất của lập trình, viết các điều kiện để hoàn thành một mục tiêu nào đó.
Khi con tôi học mẫu giáo, con không có hứng thú gì với Lightbot và ứng dụng này có vẻ quá khó đối với tuổi của con, vì vậy chúng tôi ngừng chơi game này. Yes, that’s Cut the Rope! If you wonder why this app is included in this list, that’s because we believe this app is one of the best addictive tools that sharpen problem-solving skills.
You probably already know, but in case you haven’t, Cut the Rope is a sequel to the wildly popular physics-based puzzle game. Players have to cut dangling ropes to get the candy to protagonist Om Nom while attempting to collect as many stars as possible. There are plenty of levels, making the game a bargain.
Ok, this one is definitely sillier than the others, but I can condone some exposure to it given how it develops an understanding of logic, sequencing, and physics. We play both Cut the Rope and Cut the Rope II.
