Writing stories is something every child is asked to do in school, and many children write stories in their free time. By creating and telling a story, children learn to organize their thoughts and use written language to communicate with readers in a variety of ways. Writing stories also helps children better read, and understand, stories written by other people. But writing a story can also seem like a challenge to a child (or an adult!).
At Everest, to help our students be more confident in practice language, we teach English Language Arts through the “Story Mountain” method (developing writing based on a mountain model). A story mountain is a way of visually planning the plot and structure of a story, by separating the plot and structure into clear stages or sections.
Let’s explore what a story mountain is in this article.
